MailScanner

MailScanner is the system MagicAngelHosting uses to scan customer emails for Spam, Viruses and Phising Emails. The system uses Spam Assassin and the SARE rules database to eliminate most spam from mailboxes. We also respect the RBL (Rolling Black Lists) to keep known spammers from sending you spam.

Email Facts, On Average....

  • 60% of the email you receive is spam
  • You will be sent at least 3 virus this week
  • You will be ask to provide personal information on a fraudulent form once this week
  • You will spend countless hours making sure that there isn't anything important in all those spam emails.

With MagicAngel.net's Mail Scanner...

  • All high scoring spam will be deleted before it gets to your in box.
  • Questionable spam will be marked as spam.
  • Virus attachments will be deleted.
  • You will have white and black lists you can access to remove or keep any emails that come to you.
  • Phishing emails will be clearly marked as dangerous.
  • You'll be able to configure you email spam blocker to act as you want it to act, not how some computer geek thinks it should act.

MailScanner Subject line tags:

{Tracking Bug Removed} - It is safe to open these emails. Tracking Bugs are web links to sites that allow senders to monitor your mail reading habits. Using tracking bugs, they can tell if you read your mail or not. MailScanner disables tracking bugs.

{Spam} - MailScanner thinks this email is spam and is warning you that it may contain spam. If you don't know the sender and the subject line isn't something you are expecting, then you should simply delete this email. This level of spam can be turned off, if you no longer want to get it.

{Definitely Spam!} - This level of spam is turned off by default. All of this is normally spam, porn and drug ads, you should have this turned off. Contact us if you get any spam marked like this.

{Fraud?} - Mailscanner will attempt to point out Phishing attempts by indicating where links are actually going, instead of where they appear to go. Phishing is a fraud attempt that redirects you to a fraud site by showing one name in the link, but linking to a different site. For example, you think you are going to ebay, when you are really going to some fraud website outside of the US. Mail scanner will include the following in the message:

MailScanner has detected a possible fraud attempt from "www.ebay-fraud-gauys.com" claiming to be www.ebay.com

It is safe to open emails with the {Fraud?} tag. This is common on emails with links in them and does not indicate fraud. See the actual link indicated in the message and don't click on it if you don't know where it is going.
